Rabbi Melvin Libman is a much accomplished man! His education includes:
- BA from Harvard
- BJEd from Boston Hebrew College
- MHL, DHL Honoris Causa and his Rabbinical Ordination by the Jewish Theological Seminary of America
- Doctor of Divinity, honoris causa
- Certificate in Pastoral Counseling, Post Graduate Center for Mental Health
- post Graduate work in Ancient Semitic Languages and Bible Studies at New York University
Rabbi Libman is unique among American Rabbis. His rich and widely varied experience includes:
- Jewish community service
- Federation Director for National United Jewish Appeal
- Congregations in Toronto, Washington D.C., and New Haven, CT
- Assistant Executive Director of National United Jewish Appael in Seattle, Greenwich CT, and Hawaii
- Adjunct Faculty Member in Jewish History, Philosophy, and Languages at Chaminade University, a Catholic university, and at Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu
- Moderator of several television programs
- Representative for the Jewish community at a meeting with the Dalai Lama in Hawaii
- Current Instructor at Palomar College in San Marcos
Rabbi Libman is innovative in congregational and communal programming. He introduced such innovative programs as board training for synagogues, summer day camps, home care service for the elderly, Judaic study programs for Federation leadership, a joint Jewish-Japanese Holocaust program, and a study course for missions to Israel. Notably he has personally led over 25 missions to Israel, including supervising a national Young Leadership Mission with over 2,000 participants.
