Senior Brunch is Always Buzzing!

These popular brunches are held four or five times each season, running from September to June, and generally on a Sunday. The brunches take place in Shalom Hall, with round tables set up in cabaret style.  Dining begins at 10:30 am after introductory remarks by the Brunch Coordinator, currently Mel Berman. A team of volunteers prepares the food in advance and serves the food on the day of the brunch.  Guests help themselves to food, generally dairy, buffet style.  At the conclusion of dining, a 50/50 drawing is generally held. Then the entertainer is introduced and the program begins.  The performer is generally a musician (s) and is sometimes a lecturer.  The performer begins their program at 11:30 am for duration of one hour.  Food is available for takeout at a very nominal price.

We have been honored to present many well-known performers and lecturers over the years here at Shir Ami.  These include Broadway singers, authors, historians, and accomplished musicians.  Shir Ami's Senior Brunch is always an entertaining and educational morning!  Some of our past talent includes:

VOLUNTEERS REQUESTED

Senior Brunch also is in need of volunteers to help with food preparation for the Brunch buffet:

This group of volunteers, led by Barbara Cohen, mainly works to set up and prepare the food for the buffet. To make the job easier, we are looking for additional helpers.  The group meets two days before the date of the brunch. They place food in containers and on serving platters.  They do other miscellaneous work, such as slicing tomatoes and onions and putting items, such as cream cheese, butter and pastries into convenient serving portions. Upon completion, these items are stored in a refrigerator. On the morning of the Brunch, the volunteers take items from the refrigerator and place them on the buffet serving tables.  If you are interested in being a volunteer or would like more information, please contact Barbara Cohen or Mel Berman.

 

RSVP info – The RSVP date is 10 days before the date of the Brunch. The best way to RSVP is to mail the form to Shir Ami with your check payable to SHIR AMI. A discounted fee is available for checks received by the RSVP date.  The Brunch Flyer is automatically mailed to people who have attended a Brunch as well as to all Senior Members of Shir Ami. If you need a flyer you can get a copy from a friend or by calling Shir Ami at 215-968-3400.  A Flyer will also be on the Shir Ami website and on Facebook.  The Flyer can be printed and then the RSVP form can be mailed to Shir Ami.
