Shabbat Your Way (June 11th)

On Friday evening, June 11th, you will have the opportunity to celebrate Shabbat “in your own way". We invite you to choose one from the following five different options that offer a variety of ways to explore Shabbat.  You can  learn about science and religion; get in touch with nature on a family hike; deepen your spiritual connection with gentle restorative movement; or just relax and have fun listening to music.  Please pick your top choice and a backup choice from the following options:

Session 1 (Yoga): Take this time on this Shabbat for restorative gentle movement to connect your body and breath to calm your soul.  No previous yoga experience is needed, it is open to all ages!  Please make sure to also have a chair and a towel with you for this session.

Session 2 (Beit Cafe): Come gather round the virtual campfire and enjoy a laid back jam session with your Shir Ami friends - all listeners welcome! And if you'Sd be interested in sharing some music as well, please contact Cantor Rachel Kohlbrenner for details.

Session 3 (Science vs, religion text study): Are science and religion in conflict? Let’s look at Jewish perspectives with Rabbi Paula Goldberg

Session 4 (Shabbat services): For those who prefer a more familiar worship experience, Rabbi Briskin will provide a traditional Shir Ami Shabbat experience with Friday night liturgy and an  interactive Torah study on the weekly portion. .

Session 5 (Offsite - family nature hike): Join Rabbi Goldberg at Tyler State Park for Shabbat table blessings with Shir Ami online at 6:15pm and then enjoy a family friendly hike to experience Shabbat outdoors in nature. Rabbi Eric will lead the group in
