"It is our duty to strive to improve the world."
Making An Impact Through Racial & Social Justice
The Shir Ami Tikkun Olam Committee is proud to join the Religious Action Center (RAC) Cohort on Racial Justice, a commitment that encompasses all forms of bigotry. As Reform Jews, we hold a deep responsibility to strive for a better world. Our journey begins with introspection, as we explore our thoughts and feelings about racism in America and work to deepen our understanding. By engaging with books like White Fragility and How to Be an Antiracist, we foster essential conversations about recognizing and overcoming our implicit biases.
Through the discussion of films such as Best of Enemies, we gain insight into the profound structural racism that pervades our society. Our next steps will focus on understanding how racism affects our own community. By building relationships with partners across racial lines and participating in interfaith coalitions, we aim to take meaningful action to confront racial injustice.
We invite you to join us in these efforts to learn, engage, and make a difference. If you’re interested in getting involved or have ideas for future activities, please reach out to our chair at tikkunolam@shiramipa.org.
Together, we can continue the vital work of Tikkun Olam—repairing the world.
